Analysis of Ezra 7: When the Scroll Finds a Servant — The Hand of God, the Law of God, and the Formation of a People

Person in a flowing gold robe holding a scroll with handwritten text. The background is plain white, emphasizing the vibrant attire.
Carrying the scroll written in his bones, Ezra brings the Word of God to form the hearts of a rebuilt people.

The temple has been rebuilt, but the people still must be formed. Stones can stand while hearts wander. Altars can smoke while obedience grows thin. So the story turns from cedar and sacrifice to Scripture and teaching. Ezra comes up from Babylon with the scroll written in his bones, carrying the heavy ink of God's heart, the hand of the Lord upon him, and a holy calling: to study, to do, and to teach the Law of the Lord.
